Hi All,

My first post here - we've been enjoying our little panda for the last 5 months and I've been lurking in the background!

The flexible exhaust section has failed (not badly) but needs some attention, from looking around here it looks like it may be a cut out the old and bolt in the new jobbie.

I've been looking around at parts, but when looking at the exhaust on the car before the flexible joint (please see picture), it's not round - is this normal? At the moment I'm struggling to find a kit to fit (can find them for different engine sizes) and I'm wondering if this is because it won't fit because it's not a round section.

The car is a 2014 TwinAir.

Thanks for any help given!

Jonathan

Hi Jonathon

My 2015 TwinAir Cross flexi exhaust pipe failed the MOT 6 months ago, I hadn't even realised it was blowing!

Spoke to two dealers, one had never heard of one failing and could only advise a complete system at £800+ and the other pretty much said the same, that part is not available separately!

I found a small company in Nottingham who build custom exhausts, they chopped it out and replaced it, Total cost £90. Nothing wrong with the rest of the pipes.

Big difference to £800+!!

Hope that helps

Steve

My 2015 4x4 TA failed its MOT due to a leaking flexi. The MOT garage confirmed that only Fiat parts were available - I think the cost was £400 just for the parts. I declined the offer and took it to a small exhaust specialist. He welded in a generic flexi for £80, I took the car back to the original MOT tester and it passed without further payment.

There are enough fiat 500s on the road to think that the usual aftermarket exhaust makers (Bosal, etc) would have a part off the shelf. It's not a rare or unusual car.

I thought I read 500 one one post, must be seeing things. Or assumed the twinair was a 500 only thing.

Yes, I've had 4x4 normal cars where the parts are different enough to be cost an arm and a leg

The 4x4 Pandas are like that too (and to a lesser extent, the 100HP); the model-specific parts have no aftermarket options and, if you can even get them at all, cost an arm and a leg from Fiat.

Now that the fleet is ageing, quite a few have developed dangerously corroded rear subframes, leading some folks to scrap what would otherwise be serviceable cars (there are affordable aftermarket beams for drum braked Pandas, and both drum & disc braked 500's, but sadly none for the 4x4 &100HP).

Update: I went to various standard exhaust places who couldn't get hold of the exhaust (only available from Fiat for the 4x4).
I was very lucky and happened across a great little exhaust repair and welding garage Car Savers in Aldershot who cut and welded in a new section of flexi pipe for £120 - job done.

Glad you got it sorted out.
Looks like you came to the same conclusions that I did and mentioned when you posted initially.
As I said, mine cost £80 - I guess its cheaper up north!

Hello

I found an exhaust supplier that can get Italian MTS two piece pipe for my 2014 Twin Air 4x4.
I contacted MTS in Italy, then their importer and then they forwarded a supplier to me.
FIAT part was £466, I believe the FIAT one is one piece from the CAT, my original was Magneti Marelli
Clickcarparts; was £346 now just under £400 for both bits, he actually apologised it was so expensive....normal twin air exhausts were around £150.

Not sure if this helps
Robin

I've used MTS parts before and found them excellent, I recommended some before to another user here and think his parts weren't able to be fitted for some reason
