Hi,

Just picked up our new 1.3 Mulitjet but it hasn't got the 3rd rear seat belt is it possible to have these retro fitted

Thanks

Brian

I beg to differ with some posters!

The FIAT UK website shows a third seat belt for the Panda(to make it a five seater) as a £150 factory fit option.

I would be very surprised if FIAT offered this option without it conforming to current legislation requirements.

However, this still does NOT help to answer the original poster's question!

:yeahthat:

The 3rd seatbelt is a factory-fit option. We had a customer ask this before, sales ordered the parts without telling us, but they couldn't be retro-fitted without spending silly money.

Sorry.

in that case, my mistake. i figured there was no way near enough room to fit 3 people back there. especially as i thought the seats were a 50/50 split rather than the 60/40 which most 3 seats are.

I doubt very much if you could have a 3-point belt fitted but a lap belt should be no problem just buy a lap belt from an accessory shop and use the bolts that the locking parts of the original belts use.I done a similar thing when I had a Suzuki Wagon R years ago and the dealer said that it wouldn't compromise safety at all.

Sorry to stray off topic, but when did you order your new Panda, and was it a factory build or dealer stock- I ordered mine (multijet 1.3, no frills) on June 27th and still no news - getting impatient!

Thanks

Just had a third 3 point belt fitted in the back of my 100HP by the dealer as part of the deal, all genuine Fiat parts and a very tidy job. Just thought I'd let everyone know it was possible.

All things are possible ...my 4x4 with skydome has 3rd rear seat belt even though it's supposedly not available together. Mine was a demo car and the dealer ordered it like this supposedly for better residuals. Maybe they changed the order system some time after this car as it's no longer shown as an option.

FYI ..The retractable belt comes from the roof and then plugs into socket next to the existing right hand seat belt connector and then goes across to other socket to form belt ( if that makes sense) ...seat is single piece ( not split or sliding)

Hi, Cinquenocto & Panda 4x4

Thanks for the information,

Can you see where the 3rd seat belt is connected at roof level, is it to the rear door hinge bolt as that is the only place i can see a possible fixing and have they fitted anything to finish the roof linning where the new belt passes through it ?

thanks for any help

Another thing to consider is that a car that is Produced with 4 seats has the 4 seats marked on the V5 also insurance companies will want to know you have added another passenger seat...

Yea, V5 will need to be changed, but most insurance companies ask how many seats it is when you take your policy out don't they?

As for V5, would have though this would have been done automatically by Fiat if is a factory fit and fitted to the car when sold.

 The extra seat belt isn't even an option for the 100HP, not even factory fit! If I order a 100HP I would like an extra seat belt if it's possible.

That a pain. can't see why Fiat would do this other than to be awkward, as they're structurally the same as all the other Panda's, unless its so the performance and handleing dosen't go down if you have a full car load.

I just couldn't imagine three adults sitting comfortably in the back of my Panda. I don't think the seat is wide enough for three.

I know I can only just fit 3 late teens in the back of my mk2 Panda.

It irritated me so much that when I upgraded to my latest one (auto) I hid the central belt under the rear seat and said it was only a 4 seater so I didn't always have to take as many mates:p
