If you saw it on the coupe forum then there was no need to post that comment, if you already knew.

Its still on going - the garage have denied liability, I have to have a medical. So thats it really. As far as the crash investigator is concerned the fault lies with the ill fitted bearing. The garage has no evidence to suggest otherwise. So it continues....

sorry i didnt know it was you i just remember seeing the car:eek:

how long has it go on for now surley its all in you favor(y)

it was a year since the accident last tuesday. they have only just denied liability so there is still a fair way to go yet.

I have evidence of an idependant crash specialist. They have the word of the garage. So far their evidence doesnt hold much water

I've spent £5K each year on my coupe in the two years I've had it  however most of this admittedly is tuning and other stuff you didn't need. But even so, I'd say I spent £3K a year maintenance only. It's not a cheap car to run.

This talk on people who buy Coupes needing massive bank balances seems to sound worse than it is - at least in my head, because £3000 is about what I'd expect to spend per year on such a car like a Coupe! Hell, I may even consider one myself! :yum: The fule maybe the big killer, but HOPEFULLY my girlfriend will have passed her test soon so potentially (and I use the word potentially carefully), my annual mileage could be halved :woot:

Edit: If £3k is about the average/year on a turbo, would it be less for a N/A Coupe, or is it not in the turbo where th majority of maintenance costs lie?

Edit II: Ok forget it, just got a quick quote which came in as around £2700 *boooo*. I think I need to grow older a bit first..... and when I'm old enough there'll be no petrol left in the world, and people won't be allowed to own private cars. How depressing is that!

yes an N/A coupe costs less to maintain. The turbo pushes stuff up quite a bit. Although prices on most parts are the same, its just the turbo tends to be a bit less reliable and the N/A is also cheaper to insure.

The whole idea of the expense thing is that some poeple think because you can pick the cars up relatively cheap then they are cheap sports car. They are far from cheap to own. Those who havent spent much are lucky, although their luck might not hold out for very long.

yes as matt said, they arent cheap to insure. although i am lucky cos i can get insured for about £600 FC now if i want another.

The coupe was my only mode of transport and for the mileage it did it did really well. I would have said if i did the normal 10k miles a year instead of 22-24k then it would have cost a lot less in petrol and the wear and tear would have been more gradual  :p

Well I did the quote again with my Mom as a named driver (me the main driver) and it came down to £1170! (y) May have to consider getting one now :chin: Perhaps just to own for, say, 6 months just so I can say I've had one (I've genuinley wanted one since before I could drive). Then I could cancel the insurance and claim the other 6 months back... sounds like a plan :chin: I've been thinking about replacing the Punto over the last few weeks with something with around 150bhp + and was looking at mainly Colt CZT and Fiesta ST, but having something Italian would be so much more interesting. I'm gona give this some serious thought!

Oh, sorry for Hi-jacking the thread btw  I'm such a bada** :D

Talking of insurance, how many members on here with modified cars, tell their insurance people of the mods? Any car non standard is void of insurance unless declared. Just adding a dump valve makes it void unless you tell your insurance.
I would say, that anyone doing above 12000 miles a year , shouldn't really use a coupe. Its the wrong type of car to use unless you want high maintenance bills. If only it did more to the gallon!! Optimax is over a £1 a litre, and it sucks it up at an alarming rate, especially when seeing off BMW M5's!! (y)

Andy.
