My father in law has a 19 reg panda. The stereo is fine but doesn't have a cd player. He has loads of CDs and is not it savvy enough to get them onto digital.

Want to replace the stereo. can it be removed and any recommendation goes replacement with a CD player?

Thanks in advance.

Search eBay there were some recently for £50 from the cd player days (new old stock)

Even if you get the cd's onto a memory stick the system is so numb I don't play music any more and must also do something about it too. Having to wade through folders to listen to what I choose is a nonsense while trying also to drive.

It is actually not too bad if you group music in folders and you can do some selection via the voice command Browse USB. Whats available in the folders can be seen on the dash board and selected with the steering wheel keys. I find infrequent use however just makes it non viable as I forget how it works and just don't use the system as a result.

I have an iphone with a massive memory and use it to store my entire record collection consisting of several hundred albums from Bach to Black Sabbath, Rossini to Rush, Henry Hall to Jimi Hendrix and Mahler to Metallica. I therefore take my entire record collection with me everywhere I go in the world.

Connecting via Aux or bluetooth, I just hit 'random play' and turn up the volume...:slayer:

A man after my own heart - but I wouldn't be brave enough to risk random play with those broad musical tastes. Going without warning from the Goldberg Variations or Das Lied von der Erde to Paranoid or Creeping Death would do my head in (although I guess that's the point...)

yes - some folk look at me a bit sideways when they realise how broad my music tastes stretch - its usually the disbelief that I can possibly like Henry Hall's BBC Dance Orchestra as much as I like the other stuff, but I do - its X-factor type rubbish I can't bear; Pop music - or should that be 'Plop' music? :D

I most certainly am not computer savvy either. So I gave all my favourite CDs to my very Savvy next door neighbour who put them on a stick. Although not computer savvy I can actually find my way around the "stick" for what I want

Like apparently lots of Panda People I have a very wide taste in music, and why not. Actually it can be very interesting to have, say The Beach Boys come on immediately after, say Hydens Trumpet Concerto, and then followed by Jim Reeves or Pavaroti or Tommy Steele, or indeed something I'd forgotten I had. Do IT.:)

My 2014 Panda 4x4 Antarctica came with the standard CD player that I would imagine should fit straight into the later ones without a CD, just look for an older unit at a Fiat breakers or ebay etc

Although I ordered my new 4x4 in 2018.and wanted a CD player instead of the U Connect thing, Fiat would not agree to change as it was not listed as an option.
I have to say I absolutely love the little Panda, not nearly as impressed by the dealer or Fiat themselves

The penny has finally dropped and I have worked out the stereo. It just makes me insanely cross that the system was not properly explained when I bought the car. I still dont like it, but I was sitting in the car cowering from covid in Tescos car park waiting for Mrs and started fiddling with my phone and the radio and all became a lot clearer. I am now going to load the rest of my memory stick and start using it.

The key... for the old ones like me is to use the Panda App on a mobile phone. Again it makes my blood boil that I needed a new phone to use my car music, but now at least I can see how it works.

For the record I have a Samsung J6 phone that cast about £140 from ebay (new)

If anyone wants to discuss with another old fart how to get going with the system please PM me and we can correspond by email or phone and I will pass on my limited enlightenment.

Suffice to say like all these things its simple once you know, and not complicated.

Also worked out how to get the voice operation to work properly. EASY!! Just speak in the same voice the radio speaks to you and as if by magic it starts to do as its told. GENIUS!!!

You are nearly right, but it will muck up the phone system so you cant use that if you back track the radio.

If you'll pardon the expression, the voice operation for phones really boils my pi$$. I've lost count of the number of times it has misinterpreted my instructions (despite my best efforts to enunciate the intended target clearly) and started to call someone completely different. Cue lots of "Oh f***, not them" and frantic jabbing at the steering wheel controls to cancel the call. Also had several follow-up calls from confused people in my address book asking "Did you just call me?" It's particularly embarrassing when they are people you're trying to avoid...

And they call this progress.

I don't want any piece of equipment to talk to me, and I'd rather not have to talk to it, thank you very much!

Apologies for taking this thread off topic. I feel much better now. Nurse!!!

Even when I have got up sufficient steam pressure to activate my mobile phone it still doesn't accept Apps (even if I knew what they are) It makes phone calls and does a thing called text (which I have now mastered).
However I will have my first Covid jab next Tuesday, do you think it might move me into the 21st century? If not "Luddites Rule OK".
Meanwhile a Happy Christmas and a(far better) Good New Year:)

I don't think they've yet discovered a vaccine for Ludditis!

Condiments of the season to you, too!

Ha Ha Ha Ha I'm so glad my Panda is not the only one to have had cursing and swearing shouted at it. But really do try the radio voice trick . I think it will be so funny when I go for the next service and talk to the dealer in the same voice so they understand me.... I blankety blank hate the voice system too. Its so nearly useless. I have had all the same issues as you!

Happy Christmas one and all. I will be spending mine in the garage with Noop. He at least does not have covid and I'm allowed to socialise with him as hes in my balloon or is that baboon.

I think I will set fire to it one day and use the burning wreck to send a smoke signal

Even the computer thinks Fonbook is perverse!

Donkeys years ago when I was an Insurance Inspector in S London I called in to an Estate Agent agent of my Company. The Principal was very excited about his new aquisition an ANSWERPHONE. "Wonderful thing, I'll never miss a client again" he said "Listen to this!"

Excitedly he pressed a button and......."Er,er, err I'm not talking to a bloody machine" and Bang .....down went the phone.
As far as I am aware he never found out who was calling, and I soon moved on from that area, shortly after being offered a Kit-E-Kat sandwich if I remember correctly.

Just to be clear Kit-E-Kat was cat food NOT the nice KitKat chocolate bar

My stereo in the panda has gave up the ghost it wasn’t great from the beginning I’ve bought one from a breaker with it’s code I was checking with you if I change it will the car need proxy alignment ?

Sorry I dont know. If its the same I cant see why, but looking at multiECU it would not suprise me as radio node is lited in the can info. since codemning the Panda stero I have learned to use it and while its still a pain using a menu while driving I have this under control so Ican do it.... Not bad for an old codger. You do have to do porxi alignment for changed audio input typres whatever they are....
