I have a starting problem with my Opel (Vauxhall) Combo from 2016 with the Fiat 1.3 Multijet diesel engine (90 HP).
A few days ago the engine suddenly shut down while I was driving. After that I could still move it slowly in first gear but it had almost no power. When I scanned it, I got the fault code P0488 which points to the EGR throttle valve. To try a quick fix, I cleaned the EGR system thoroughly using a Valvoline EGR cleaner. I used the entire can and after that the car ran perfectly for several days.
Then it suddenly shut down again. I have cleaned the intake manifold and the throttle body, and I also installed an EGR-delete blanking plate. The P0488 code disappeared, but the problem is still there. Since that moment the car cranks normally but will not start. It turns over strongly, builds normal fuel pressure, and all live data such as MAP, MAF, and RPM readings look normal during cranking, but the engine does not fire up. The only message I get on the dashboard now is a diesel filter warning, but there is no fault code related to it when I scan the car. I also tried to rotate the engine manually using a wrench, and it turns smoothly without any resistance or strange noises. Anyone have an idea? I searched throughout the forum but couldn't find any solution.
