I had the message "Check Fuel Filter" appear on the dash last week in France. Went to a "Fiat Pro" workshop in Chartres who drained the water out of the filter, but showed me the sensor, which was cracked (it is a plastic device which I think fits inside the filter and has an electrical connection back to the van loom).
When water is detected in the filter this device presumably "switches on/ activates" the message which appears on the dash.
The Fiat chap said it was OK to drive but to get the sensor replaced when I got home.
Now the fun starts - my local garage who does all the MOT's and servicing of my vehicles tells me that this is a common problem and there is a problem with the wiring on these Ducato's and recommended me to take it to the Fiat Service Centre - since he has to get the parts from them anyway.
The nearest Fiat Pro centre is a DAF Truck Dealer in Hereford - 15 miles away and doesn't want to talk to me - no call backs.
Parts on EBay / Amazon vary between £9 and £250 depending on type etc - and I cannot find a Fiat part number to make sure I buy the correct sensor - any parts lists please?
My motorhome is a 2015 Hymer on a 2.3 Ducato. Engine Number F1AE3481D 2287cc 96Kw.
Assuming I buy the sensor and fit it myself, I still have the potential problem of a wiring issue with this vehicle. Any knowledge of this and advice please?

Hi 🙂

Have you tried the forums version of EPER parts manual?
Many thanks for such a rapid response! yes and there are is a general external diagram showing the two types of (I think) recent options - but I need the exploded digrams showing the replacement parts - like the sensor.

Hi Everyone,
I have spent a couple of days trying to find parts lists and diagrams for the Fiat Ducato without any success. Also tried to track down suppliers who can help. It seems that MOTUS (an umbrella organisation of mainly DAF tuck dealers) have some individual businesses who are Fiat Pro operations as well - and they have a central Fiat spare parts organisation based at their Gloucester site (01452 508700). I also found Partsworld (01246 268896). Both were helpful but the best supplier was Coastal Motorhomes, who specialise in parts for vehicles used for motorhomes. They had the part in stock, very easy and clear website, and free delivery.
I am now awaiting delivery and have my normal local service/MOT garage lined up to fit the parts when they arrive.
There is still an outstanding question mark - which is to do with a wiring problem by the Fiat people above tell me there are no outstanding technical bulletins out for this. We will see after the new parts are fitted - will the message on the dashboard disappear?
