Technical 2008 Fiat ducato 3.0 alternator replacement tips please

yesterday i replaced the water pump and i was intending to install a new alternator too, but when i lay under the van it didnt appear i could remove the old one and get it past the powersteering rack and its lines, the exhaust or the driveshaft. I think it is suggested to remove the exhaust, but that appears to be be a massive job , especially at the exhaust has been on the van from new.
So, has anyone else done this, do you have a trick or two on how to remove it without the van needing to go to an equiped garage?

I think you have to at least remove the right drive shaft. If still impossible to get through, then remove exhaust down pipe. Unless someone else has a better idea. I’d let it go unless old one breaks.
