Hello thanks for looking.

Sometimes when i turn the ignition off on my van i get a buzzing noise from behind the clocks. Sounds like a chatting relay. Anyone else ever experienced this? Or what actually is it?

Not actually getting any problems as yet but just wondering if it will lead to any.

Thanks again.. Lee

Hi there, i sometimes get a relay buzz too. The only time i've noticed it however is when i have the phone charging via the lighter socket. It's fine while the engines running but if i turn it off to just leave the 'Battery' light showing on the dash, thats when it can happen. That sound similar to your issue??

I've had the identical problem as originally described, seems to be associated with the indicator stalk/arm. No problems yet, but it's as if the indicators are still on and flashing away. I'll keep an eye on it, but if any problems develop I'd first be checking the indicator stalk and whatever cams actuate the indicators, it's probably something that wears over time and causes a short.

my 55 plate dose this on starting it sounded like it was comming from the glove box area, now the cig lighters gone off so carnt use sat nav and the indercator is tempermental

i have just changed the indicator relay/flasher unit on my 2001 2.0 JTD it was clicking when indicators was not in use, the indicators did not flash but the relay was still clicking on its own randomly, its under the the steering wheel undo the two screws under the wheel and then undo 2 more down where your left leg would be if you was sitting in the drivers seat. the unit cost £14 so not too bad and no more clicking it was very annoying (y) not sure if this will help anyone :bang:

cheers for that, will have to look into replacing mine as it's gone from "not working sometimes" to "not working most of the time".

I got a spare indicator stalk, but that's not the problem. When the indicators stop working, I can jiggle the relay and they will start working again. I've clean the connectors and checked the wiring, so I don't think there's a short anywhere.

Is it common enough for the relay to have an internal short? I'll try replacing that and see if it doesn't sort the problem out.

thanks again!
