as the title says what the funk is goin on...?
replaced the cable in Dec iirc might have been late Nov and now shes gone again. was from a motor factors but i wouldnt have thought the quality would have been that inferior...

would some one please explain to me what usually causes them to go this quickly!

yeah but at the moment motor factors aint open ;) but ill be running round tomorrow morning asking for prices... sometimes ebay turns up trumps sometimes it doesnt always worth a look.

rallycinq buddy... you should know me better than to rely on ebay u seem to forget im a spanner monkey by trade!;):p

levemir... yeah the cable is VERY SLIGHTLY scratchy when depressed and the release bearing sounds dry... you can hear a sort of sandy noise when in neutral and when the clutch is depressed it goes away.

all things considered im not too heart broken i knew she was on her way out sometime soon.... should be a nice little car when im finished... that or i bought a nail!bought a nail!:D

I'd avoid the Fiat origonal clutch parts, they can fail badly.

Noel

first i've heard on that, i would sooner fit a valeo part than a EBC / etc etc 'uprated' (read double the price) clutch

:yeahthat:

I bought a valeo clutch and used the same plate in two different cinq, both get alot of abuse and im having no problems what so ever with it:confused:

nonsense!

any part can fail badly. you do get the very occasional faulty part on any machine and by any manufacturer, however its extremley rare!

The standard parts are probably as good (if not better in a few cases) than many, much more expensive, uprated parts.

yes mate thats true! after theyve been melted down and re-cast i dont know a manufacturer in their right mind who would "re-use" an exchange or for that matter a warranty part.

Well my release bearing managed to get stuck in the fingers of the diaphram clutch, stalled the engine, some of the cheapo nasty 3rd party clutches seem engineered better, in this aspect, but please ignore me see if care...

Noel

and FROM MY EXPERIENCE some of these better designed cheapo nasty clutches plates wear out at a frightening rate!!, some are better, some are worse, the original is no better than a cheapo, no worse either, but probably more consistent in their quality ;)

that be my point :), everyones allowed their views

well my clutch is a valeo part, fitted when i fitted the 1242 bottom end around 4 years (30k) ago, it's had a ~75bhp engine setup and then a ~85bhp setup, and had some stick - and when i took the engine out, the clutch looked fine. it only got binned because i've got a 1368cc 16v with a bigger clutch now
