Technical 2.8JTD turbo boost control - manual or electronic?

I am investigating having my 2001/2 2.8JTD remapped.

A poster in another forum has suggested that the turbo boost is manually adjusted and is not under the control of the ECU.

Can anyone confirm/deny?

Wastegate actuator is plumbed directly from the compressor housing.

So there is no electronic means of adjusting maximum boost?

Is there a manual way of adjusting maximum boost (screw, spring etc.)?

There is an adjustment on the wastegate actuator rod. You could I suppose fit a boost controller but excessive boost will probabyl throw an error and put on the MIL.
