I have a clutch problem garage cannot solve. On depression clutch pedal does not return back up. currently have a bungee from pedal to seat back and clutch works fine, no slip, judder or grab. Simply the pedal stays down without the bungee. Any ideas?

Is the brake fluid level getting any lower? Highly recommend checking this ASAP.
If the level is ok then its more likely to be the clutch master cylinder .
If the level has dropped then you more than likely have a leaky concentric slave cylinder

I recently changed the brake fluid on our 2003 2.8 JTD & as the clutch shares a common reservoir with the brakes, did the clutch fluid as well. After pumping the old fluid out & replacing with fresh fluid & removing all air from the clutch hydraulic system I found that the clutch pedal stayed around 1/3 of its travel from the floor.
I then went to the slave cylinder & pushed the clutch fork either back towards the the pressure plate (or away? can't exactly remember) which then returned the pedal to the correct full travel position.
Hope that helps
Cheers (y)
