General 1242 day!

Today, my engine defied all odds and actually got me and Peaster2k to Stoke-on-Trent to pick up a 1242 engine and gearbox (supposedly a 6 speed!, the box certainly looks different to standard!).

It was a long drive, thankfully we knew where we were to pick it up and got straight there. We spent about half an hour detatching the gearbox from the engine to allow us to lift the heavy b****rd into the back of the car and we were sorted and ready to return to the north-east.

With an engine and gearbox in the back of the cinq, it has some manic lowering effects! Wheels well into the arches! and no scrubbing on 195/45/R14!...

Nice one Rich, I'm glad everything went ok and you got back home safe and sound.

Good to hear you had no arch scrubbing with ya 195/45X14 tyres either, that could have caused some problems if they had caught, (my recommendation would have been to put the engine in the passenger footwell and leave Peaster2k behind )

Hope you get it fitted all ok.

also how hard was it to get a boss for that steering wheel and how much were both items.

You can buy a boss for a cinq, they are about 50quid ish from demon tweeks and all steering wheels should fit onto that boss as it is designed to be universal so that different steering wheels can fit!!

Oh yes it was a good day collecting the 1242. Seeing 3 seicentos in the matter of ten mins (OH the women in the yellow abarth sei were nice ) was probs the best highlight of the day

Did the driver have long blonde hair and was early twentys, if yes then its probably the one ive seen neer festival site and at the end of my road as i think she followed me home (i wish )
