£300, had it remapped twice as fiat wiped the ecu at a service with their new update, but angel tuning put it back FOC
A new update?

That's interesting to know - obviously, a remap on a 2.4 petrol not as pronounced as a JTD, but I had mine in a few months back for the 36k service - I wonder if my ecu has been affected? :chin:

the update was done during the 24k service, it was one of fiats campaign things, the car seemed to run a lot smoother with the new software but not as quick without the remap

Hey Chrome, My car has only one dynamic badge on the drivers side (FIAT tight asses lol :D ), the weight helps me turn right handers better ;) .

Be nice to know who Santa is getting his remap done with tomorrow. If its Angel tuning and you live in Scotland Santa, i apologise in advance for their delay in getting to you, but i've managed to kidnap them in the morning.

Give us the details of who / cost / performance difference mate!

I'll let you kow how mine goes, really excited cant wait!!!! Oooooops think i've just wet myself:D :slayer:

I'm afraid it's not Angel Tuning, as the trip to Denmark to just remap my car, will be too expensive ;) So i'm using a danish tuner (and a very good one i'm told).

I will report back on cost and performance (although mine is a multijet and not a "normal" jtd).

Sounds great good look with the remap - Are you gonna add anything else to it Air filter / Flow kit, Exhaust etc etc (Hope your bank managers not watching:rolleyes: )

Good luck. Your car may have more power than mine, but i can fit your car in my boot lol :D
Hope it goes well mate let us know

Yeah Santa, i'd really like to know how it goes 'cause i want to get one too!!! As for the bhp increse i have a few questions; different places have told me different bhp increases and i was wondering if each one has it's own software or is there a common software that gets sold around????

Andy and Nigel from Angeltuning.co.uk arrived right on time this morning as promised. No meesing about got straight to work and transformed my Stilo Supermarket carrier (Multiwagon).

Not the first and wont be the last to recommend em.

Great Job Guys, nice one :worship:

And thanksto everyone on FF who recommended them, as it made the decision for me.

If your like me and your apprehensive about getting it done, dont just do it.:slayer:

Stilo dont know if this answers or part answers, but most "chippers/remappers" use similar software however the difference it makes to your engine is down to them, this is what makes each company different.

From looking into it recently, an example is one mentioned by myself earlier,
My car you can get tuned to 155BHP by angeltuning via a remap.
Or tunemycar.com can sell yopu a tuning box which will take it to 142Bhp.
The remap will adjust fuel pressures/timing turbo settings etc / The tuning box will only effect the fuel pressures, timing etc, and leave the turbo setting mainly untouched. I know this cause i discussed it with Andy from Angel tuning.
I would recommend getting it done Stilo, its quick, safe and ahem "fun" :D

It is done.

The Multijet is now a Multijet+ :D

I will scan the before and after graphs later, but i can give you the key figures:

Before: 137,3 bhp at 3611 rpm and 334,3 nm at 2415 rpm
After: 172,2 bhp at 4254 rpm and 415,3 nm at 2588 rpm

Ii sould mention that it actually hits about 168-169 bhp at 3250 rpm.

Between 2000 rpm and 4000 rpm it doesn't go under 300 nm.

I haven't driven it enough to give a complete review of the new found power, so that will have to wait till later.

I'm not as happy as i could be.
The torque is simply too much for the clutch, so i'm gonna have it tweaked down a bit, perhaps down to 370-380 nm instead of 415 nm, as the clutch is slipping in 4th, 5th and 6th gear around 2500 rpm.

Other than that, it simply awesome.........it goes a bullet from a gun.

I can highly recommend an obd-tuning instead of box-tuning, but other multijet owners want to hold again with the torque as i mentioned before (i think max. is around the 370-380 nm to avoid a slipping clutch).

So get to it Stilo Multijet 140bhp, you won't regret it. (y)

So can you ask for diferent grades of torque?? That's a real shame that the clutch is slipping, i'd never heard of anybody having problems with the clutch but of course the torque increase isn't usually that big.....

I suppose i'll be getting mine done soon but now i'm going to have to look into this torque stuff and assk around to see if they can do it properly.

So what does the car do when clutch slips??? More revs but not more speed??? Shouldn't this happen in the first gears when tha strain is biggest (or at least it feels like it; i've always found that i could do with a bit more go in the higher gears!!)

Well, thanks for the info, tell mehow it goes when you have it torqued down.. i suppose less torque means less bhp though i'm really not sure what one or the other is useful for!!!

They change a bunch of stuff during the remap, so i think they can adjust it according to rpm as well.

When the clutch slips, it just takes more revs (around 300 rpm for now) but no more speed. After a few seconds the speed catches up with the revs, but this wears out the clutch, so the safe thing to do is lift you foot of the speeder a bit.

And it always happens in the high gears first, so when your clutch starts to get worn out, you'll notice it in the high geras first. Most likely on the motorway whenyou need to overtake a car and you put youur foot down, but nothing happens (ecxept more revs).

The less torque will be around 2500 rpm, so the max. bhp should not be affected. I will of course have less bhp at 2500 rpm, but i can live with that.

I will report back, when i get it tweak down i bit (hopefully next week).

I was talking to a Alfa specialist the other day who said the JTD engines were great but that by tuning them for more power resulted in significant decrease in MPG, can anyone confirm this? I guess it makes sense, more BHP is achieved through an increase in fuel.

I ask because I'm on the verge of picking up a JTD and was considering a remap. The main reason for the JTD over the abarth is fuel economy. Is fuel economy improved at normal cruise/driving speeds and only when you boot it does the econ fall through the floor?

The other concern was the reports of significant black soot at full thrust, what causes this? unburnt fuel? and surely increasing turbo pressure I'd imagine will also result in early failure of turbo - a rather expensive part I'd guess?
