General 1.6 16v Auto Problems ?????

Hello again,
Hope some one can shed some light for me please,
Just got off of the phone to my Bro and the Marea had to be towed home due to the Auto-box giving up.....
The warning light came up on the dash and basically stopped at traffic lights and now will only go 15-20mph Any idea's anyone what the problem could be???

Hi, at the risk of stating the obvious i'd check the oil level, if it's low it can affect the drive and gearchange. I'll watch this post because my car occassionally shows the gearbox light on the dash.

either low fluid, or low line pressure due to a pump fault, or the box temp sensor is faulty.
