Is the swap possible? I know you can swap the rear axle of a HGT onto a 1.2 pretty easily, but can you do the same for the front axle aswell?
Just curious that is all

I wouldnt bother with a front axle - it'll upset the suspension cambers etc etc
So if your after the bigger brakes, get the calipers - Put new pads and discs on
Dont put a HGT rear axle on an 8v, as the arse will overtake you happily
As the HGT rear brakes are an 8v's front brakes (failing that - just drive in reverse)

I'd forget it -- no point really. If you just want bigger front rakes, look at Punto GT3 (14" wheels only) -- common Cinq mod. I'd not bother with the rear disks at all, but, if you do, do the fronts first.
The Punto's brakes are more then big enough to get the wheels to lock
So sticking bigger brakes on = More braking force availible = More likely to lock up
So is it worth it? Nope

It's worth it if you get more feel/control. But better tyres are pretty much a must.
One day I'll let you try one of my Centos with GT3 front brakes (and 195/45 tyres) -- they're ridiculously good.
Bicycle tyres? 195/45/14 bicycle tyres? Even the HGT (the only n/a Punto with any claim to sporting performance) only has 185/55s!
