Have an 07 1.4 Dynamic 8v, recently had car start playing up, hard to start first time have to turn over a few times before engine will idle, have plugged in torque obd and have got following codes, P0115, P0171, and P1220, anyone point me in the right direction, Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forums.

P0115 means Engine coolant temperature circuit malfunction (Check the Engine coolant temperature sensor's wires/temp sensor)

P0171 means Fuel trim system lean (bank 1) (check the mass air flow sensor, maybe give it a clean)

P1220 means Throttle position (signal implausible) (May be throttle body?)

If the car is hard starting id look at https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-guides/169204-grande-punto-engine-bay-earthing-points.html (copy and paste) and maybe look at your map sensor (https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-guides/227405-1-2-1-4-map-sensor-replacement.html). Bad map sensor or earthing points can cause issues with starting

Also check the battery

Have you cleared these errors and seeing if they come back, has can be old errors that have stored.

Sorry about the late reply ( broke my phone last week and using a windows phone and no forums on it now :( )

Anyway you'll be looking at £102 - £120 for a map sensor, crank shaft sensor and a new coolant temperature sensor (parts not inc labor).

Before you go out spending loads of money get the ones you got checked first.

Like Andy said just disconnect the map sensor an try start the car other. If it starts then map sensor has gone.

Thanks for the info Andy about the MAF sensor, i just took the information on what it could be, from the code and what usually is causing the problem from that code.

Hopefully you will sort this issue soon enough.
