Recently converted to wider 1 inch timing belt with flangeless cam pulleys and rear flanged auxillary pulley. After cranking the motor a few times, the belt has moved forward about 1/16th of an inch on the cam pulleys and has moved forward to the rear of the crank pulley. Has anybody else experienced this? Thank you.

Hi, and welcome, :)

something must be out of line / true if the belt is wandering..,(n)

possible dirt /burrs on mating faces..,

Those old Fiat engines used flanged pulleys either at the front or rear, presumably for some reason?

Unless the new timing belt has specific markings/arrows to indicate the direction of travel, I'd try fitting the belt the other way round and see what happens. Maybe the belt will migrate to the rear and be held in place by the auxiliary pulley rear flange....
