Re: Average Consumption MPG

i have just driven the stilo from wakefield to sheffield via M1 then onto A61 with varied speeds no higher than 70 and go the MPG upto 45mpg :p

maybe that was me being cautious after recent encounters with the boys in blue concerning my significant other

Re: Average Consumption MPG

drove 60 odd miles gently, and i mean "gently", sat on motorway at 65 or so, stuck behind a lorry at 45 ... zzz. i only averaged 48mph on the trip, just as i got back checked the MPG and still only 35 which is the best i have seen

Re: Average Consumption MPG

I get 52mpg (+/- 1mpg) - 1.9 JTD115

That's with town and a/b-road driving (40/60 mix)

Re: Average Consumption MPG

that sounds pretty high :) we have a 1.9 jtd which is 115bhp but we do more motorway driving than anything else :p

Re: Average Consumption MPG

Hi All

Tried Esso Energy in my Active 1.6 5 door and got 51 mpg according to computer on a mixed 40 mile trip taking it gently yesterday .

never achieved this before on this route , perhaps its the petrol or very light traffic yesterday !

Re: Average Consumption MPG

Around town and short commutes, I used to get around 27mpg out of my 1.6 3 dr Dynamic. Motorway journeys were a bit better, but still only mid to late 30s.

Re: Average Consumption MPG

I'm finding it hard to stay above 30Mpg in mine. although, i've just refilled twice in the past few days, (long journey.. you know how it is) and not reset the trip, and i'm hovering around 31mpg.. that wont last long.

Re: Average Consumption MPG

Finding it difficult to get back into the 40's... think it desperately needs the service I booked for 20/05. Last tank down to 32.6 MPG which is the lowest ever, dont make sense as weather is getting better and would expect increased MPG :( Colleague suggestion was stay away from supermarket fuel as its poor... but at current prices its hard to resist...

I use tesco petrol, just so that i can get my points. but afaik, tesco use shell anyway.
dunno how accurate, but i used redex every once in a while anyway.

Re: Average Consumption MPG

actually after getting it back from the garage i seem to be getting better consumption, dont know what they did.

HOWEVER, i reset the trip b counter when i took it in, they did 7.7 miles and averaged 13 MPG!!!

<swear warning>

MOTHER ****ERS!

</swear warning>

Driving like this gets me to 35 mpg on the hgt , my normal driving is about 27 mpg  , with the prices I think slower is the way forward for now :yuck:

Re: Average Consumption MPG

I don't care what I get, all I do is fill it up when it needs it. My previous car was an Alfa 156 V6, it was too tempting to press the go button so as the speed needle goes up, so the petrol one goes down. The Schui will be the same, I like to enjoy my driving so I don't mind paying for the pleasure. Mind you I only do about 6000 (usually very quick) miles a year.

Re: Average Consumption MPG

600 mile jolly to Wales this weekend chucking in the last of me redex got me just into the low 40's... and I had a bit of fun whilst I was at it :D Petrol prices in south west wales scary though at 95 - 99 odd p/litre

Re: stilo consumption

Hee hee!:)
No matter what your driving style though, if you're doing 70mph in fifth then everyone in a 1.6 should be getting the same mpg

Here we are 65mph, flat ground, steady speed, full tank, air con on = 43.9mpg
IMG_0003.JPG

You can cheat of course, here we are slowing down from 70mph = 77mpg
IMG_0005.JPG

But after a 10 mile round trip- average consumption = 39.6mpg
IMG_0006.JPG

Simply put, if you're not getting 40mpg at 60- 70mph then something's up

If I get stuck in traffic then, as long as the sun's out, the solar sensor takes over and the car switches to solar power
