Tuning Induction Kit

Re: Induction Kit Videos

Hi... i am currently going down the tuning path myself! I have the same vairent as you it depends on a few things how much power you want to gain and how much money you have to spend! This is basically what i am doing my first stage is have my full through stain of steel exhaust fitted, next stage induction kit - after researching alot like yourself i found K&n, pipercross, green air filter all for the stilo, lets say all different prices but under a £100? Ok if your on a budget but wont really give any power and are more likely to zap power when your engine is hot! Next was the bmc cda around £180 - very well recommend by some? But the fing is with bmc cda is that you have to get it fitted in correctly to get the full potential out of it - otherwise you might aswell of just had K&N,etc... next up is the daddy - and is what i am having not yet developed for the 1.8 stilo, but mine is going to be the 1st GSR F14i with twin cone bmc filter, the same model but different brackets rrp for the punto hgt at £250! it use the same kind of technology as the bmc cda with the twin cone filter... then my next stage is the ecu remap - abit like a superchip if you have heard of remaps and to gain its full potential and they all work hand in hand together! The reason for having them done at different stage is to give the ecu time to adapt/learn to the modifications to gain the full potential from each and the setup! Most people on here use angel tuning for there remaps and i think im going to be using GSR engineering who are just as good! hope this helps!

EDIT: all im saying about the bmc cda is if your going with it get some body with engineering/tuning knowledge to fit it so you gain the advantages of it!!! and i would advise a remap and full exhaust system too, to get your lovely grawl you want! Hopefully all my work should be done by the end march :)

My Mate is looking for an induction kit for his 1.9JTD stilo.Anyone got any suggestions

I just bought a 52 plate Stilo 1.6 dynamic at auction, took it to get it serviced & the garage said it has an induction kit in it- I take it I should remove this fi there aren't proper Stilo induction kits about? Could a "universal" induction kit cause my Stilo to miss revs when idling?

It may have a universal type induction kit i.e. K&N type?

GSR does Stilo specific induction kits... Ask PNL he's got the 1.6 GSR kit and loves it!

I certainly do :slayer: and would recomend it to anyone who wants the extra BHP :)

cheers,

I'll need to have a check and see, cos it is missing and pissing me off, I'll try disconnecting the battery tonight and report back tomorrow. On the other hand the guide to sorting the airbag problem appears to have worked a treat. No more light and annoying noise!:D :D :D

Magic.

Well, it's still missing after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Not been able to get in about it yet so see what type of kit it is but felt about the air filter and it's pretty dirty. Would I need to find out what induction kit it is and match the air filter to replace it, or would a standard Fiat one do?

It is a cone one yeah, I'll get a pic of it up today. Got to get a couple of things done first but be up asap.

With this type of filter IE- cone and twin cone you should be able to clean and replace it and some of them need re-oiling now if its the sponge type then dump it and replace it with a cotton or stainless mesh type I'm going to stick my neck out here a guess its the K&N one and if it is you can clean it and refit it (y)

Right, just crawled out from underneath- It is a K&N kit, there's a couple of pictures attached to this. (ignore the date stamp on the pics, the camera isn't set up right)

Just take it off, clean the li' bugger out and refit it?

Looks like its the Typhoon kit for what it is its quite expensive I believe did you have an engine under cover to take off and put back on cos all according how low down it is in your engine bay you will want to make sure you dont suck up any water of the road I have actually sealed around mine just to make sure (y)

It is quite low, the camera taking those pics was about 2 1/2 inches off the ground (or 6 if you ask my missus :p ).

How would I seal around it?

Sorry if I'm asking daft questions here.

If you have an under tray then get some heavy duty waterproof tape and just tape over any holes and seams between the under tray and any panels that are fixed to it mine is all sealed up now and although is not 100% water tight its a lot better that it was but of course if you havnt got an under tray then I would certainly get one not only does it help with keeping your engine/gearbox clean but protects you sump and under side of the car from those dreaded speed bumps and dead bodies that are every where.:)
I know T14086 dont like taking them off and putting them back on so ask him if he has one stashed anywhere :p got Ya T14

You need to fit your filter with the precharger: the blue cover here:
