Hi all:)

Left my car in to get a few things done last week, still there as of today. Sat nav and air con seems to pose some real problems for even a main dealer:bang:

Anyway, one of the other probs I wanted to get sorted was a knocking noise under the brake pedal/accelerator.

The culprit is a thick bronze coloured bar that is connected to the bottom of the brake pedal which extends left along the bulhead. I presume it transers brake force applied through the brake pedal to the master cylinder?

So what happens is as the car body rolls left or right, this bar slides about 10-20mm and thuds to a stop only to repeat when the car is turned the opposite direction. Anyone else get this?

So this "main" Fiat dealer tells me that it happens on all the Stilos!Is this true?I find it hard to believe that this fault could go unnoticed by anyone.

Thanks for any imput.

Yes all stilos do it...some more than others.....stick a bit of shaped foam in the gap at drivers side of bar;)

Its really bad ain't it? Was going to do the foam thing but I was nearly sure something was wrong and could be fixed. So surprised to hear all Stilos do it! Is it from day one it happens or does it slowly develop?

:) Noticed my Stilo making similar noise first time backs are applied in a morning, only started this week, presumed it was pads rocking in calipers, mybe not then!

Mum's Stilo did this; took it in a year or two ago and the dealer fitted new "Actuators" or something like that; helped a great deal. Does it on mine so I may get it looked at, dunno if I can be bothered though!

Or in my case turn down my hearing aid and turn up the radio :D

Bit annoying but does no damage,most folk dont bother.....oh better repeat that for PNL;

Thinking about this now this has been resurrected wouldn't it be possible to put a thin metal shim of some sort in there :chin: I will get round to having a look at it one day but in the mean time I will just turn down my hearing aid :D

Well, not the ones designed originally. It's just because you have the steering wheel on the wrong side - hence the pedals on the wrong side as well.

:D

:D ok......all stilos with right hand drive;)

Yes PNL the remedy is something similar to that you describe.
