Technical Which Earths Commonly Fail on The Stilo ?

All,

Which earths commonly fail on the Stilo and where are they located ?

I know about the Greek Forum and the Earth upgrades BUT can't view it due to not being able to register on the forums. https://www.stilo-club.gr/vb3/showthread.php?t=2536 The question part doesn't translate so can't answer it and register.

Requested someone post the thread on here but no joy.

Reason I'm asking is seem to be having a problem with my Alternator not charging the battery. Brand new battery (so it's not that), just trying to track down the earths etc. and check them all out.

Mines an 8v JTD engine if that helps.

Yeah Battery light comes on and goes off as normal. Alternator did have an added wire going from it to the fuse box with a spade end just shoved into a spare fuse slot (removed it). Think it might have been acting as an earth, hence why i need to find and check all the earths.

I'm planning on upgrading the wires. Being 'new' to Stilo's I don't know that much about them 'yet'....

Only earth point that would affect the alternator is the main engine earth. A single black cable goes from the battery -ve terminal to the chassis then continues to the top of the gearbox.

Nothing to do with earths, but if its not already been done, would be a good idea to move the turbo boost valve to the side of the battery box. It's usually under the left headlamp where it gets water into it.

In my experience the main earth lead to the gearbox has been a problem. It is a two part lead with a connecting junction under the battery tray. The original lead from this junction to the gearbox was too short and inflexible and broke at about 50,000 miles. Car would not start. Fitted a longer, more flexible lead and all OK at 105,000 miles.
