I love it when things work out well.------------- Three weeks ago I ordered a used cruise control stalk, lower steering wheel cowling and the socket which the plug fits into from a breakers on ebay. Unfortunately the stalk turned up without the socket or the cowling. I was quite happy to pay for this but the price I had paid was more expensive than other sellers because it included the extra parts. I questioned this with the seller,as he no longer had the other parts he then refunded me and did not require the stalk to be returned. I suppose this means I have fitted cruise control for just the price of a plug and socket. Although it meant me having to reuse my old cowling and fit my own plug and socket. It meant I had to cut the existing cowling which I did not really want to do as it is slightly damaged . I also chopped off the plug and fitted a new plug and socket under the steering column and picked up the wiring under the battery as instructed on this Forum. --- great guide thanks to who made this it was really helpful ------ . Next I borrowed a friend who has a registered version of multiecuscan with this I added cruise control and did a proxi alignment. Now cruise was working perfectly.

Now the down side -- ever since this my indicators would not stop on when turning left. I believe this is a common problem on the STILO

After searching on this forum I have found a solution which I will share with anyone else who has this annoying problem.

Just push the ribbed rubber gaiter back into the steering column cowling one extra rib and it will work flawlessly. This takes some of the tension off the spring inside the stalk. Hopefully this fix may be of use to someone else.

Now everything ,indicators, cruise, etc working just as it should.

To solve the "fat gaiter" problem, cancelling the indicators because it's too tight in there, I used a Stanley knife to shave (rather than cut) some plastic off the edges of the cowling around the hole.. essentially making the hole slightly bigger. You can then fit the rubber gaiter in its usual position.
