Hello everyone!

I'm having trouble with my dipped headlights now working. Having checked fuses and bulbs I found a cable hanging loose in front of the battery box, behind the left headlight (sitting i car). Does anyone know what cable it is, where it should be connected and if it might be related to my dipped headlight problem.

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

It looks like the connector for the automatic headlamp levelling sensors for cars fitted with original Xenon HID headlamps. If your car doesn't have HID headlamps, the connector could just hang loose.

Alternatively, perhaps the car did have HID headlamps, but a previous owner has replaced them with normal headlamps.

Do you know which type of headlamps your car has? or did have?

My car does not have HID lights, and I don't think HID:s have been installed previously. So maybe that explains why the cable isn't connected.

So it isn't related to my problem with the regular dipped lights I guess. Then I need to keep looking.

Check that you have power and earth at the headlamp connector when switched on. The dipped headlight supply wires are on pin 1 of each connector, and should be grey for the left lamp and orange/black for the right. Both earth wires should be black, and go to pins 14 of the connectors.

You say that you've checked the fuses (F12 and F13 in the dashboard fuse box), both dipped beams are also supplied by relay T01 in the same fuse box.

Diagram of the fuse box below shows how it's fitted in a right hand drive car, for left hand drive cars it will be rotated 180°
