i took the wifes stilo down for its mot friday it flew through but found out from the mot er that from next year air bag light will be part of the mot and must not be on also any rubber cover whether it be ball joint /track rod end must not have any cracks or splits in them and tow bars will be part of the mot if fitted so i just thought you should know cos we all know what stilos are like for air bag lights:idea:

thanks for that - I predict loads of threads about removing light bulbs from dashboards now !

just rang my 'usually helpful' fiat st(d)ealer here's the prices i've found

:( p/n:- 46786180 £209 for the 'entry level' OCS mat with no seat airbags, no rear airbags and frabric interior (so i'm assuming active, 3&5door)

:bang: p/n:- 46831158 £343 for the 'top spec' OCS mat with all the possible airbags and leather interior (i'm assuming dynamic and abarth, 3&5door)

All UK Stilos came with front seat Thorax airbags I believe.

dont stress.

the reson they are different in price is because of the seat squap padding.

the ACTUAL mat is identical incl. part number! (have had them side by side and inspected thoroughly)

what I did to repair my recently installed leather seat OCS mat was to take the OCS mat off the seat squab in my low spec fabric interior and glue it onto the seat squab of the leather seats....

so, buy the cheapo one, and do a mat swap (y) (may even be able to sell the bare squab on the bay!)

so mil's for 'ghost' faults would be a fail?

i.e. the fahzah in laws pug partner throws an ATF Temp Sensor fault... it has a manual box... will it then fail mot for a fault that cant possibly be on the vehicle!?

The fact that its throwing up an error for something thats not on the vehicle is a fault in its self so my guess would be yes.

why would it mater what tester it is? if the MIL is on then from what i got from that PDF then its a fail!?

as in the guy who decides pass or fail....at the end of the day if he wants to be a P**** he can fail you, jst got to decide how (and im not saying him doing his job properly is being a P****)

But some testers i know will turn a blind eye to something like that, i.e. something that is just a headache to sort out and not doing any harm or causing any danger.

But strictly speaking its a FAIL

Here's another PDF that might interest some of you.

The assessment of defects during roadworthiness testing in accordance with Directive 2009/40/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on roadworthiness tests for motor vehicles and their trailers.

The guidelines for assessing failures, including technical defects and other non-compliances, that are found during periodic testing of vehicles are categorised in three groups, as follows:
MINOR DEFECTS (MiD)
MAJOR DEFECTS (MaD)
DANGEROUS DEFECTS (DD)
