Im having a bit of a problem with EML with the blank plate in position. Best start at the beginning car is 2007 150Mjet 22475miles on the clock. It started with really poor acceleration upto 2000 revs no lights on display to suggest anything wrong so I did the blank plate test and the engine works fine but EML comes on Ive knocked it off with FES a few times but still keeps coming back. Ive cleaned the EGR with carb. cleaner but it still dosent work so Im left with buying a new EGR or if someone can suggest a way of stopping the EML coming on I would be over the moon cause it seems to accelerate much better with blank on than when the EGR worked alright.

Remap and get it mapped out is the only way I know of,the ecu is comparing actual airflow from maf sensor and desired airflow from maf .it knows how much flow should drop when egr opens.I got to a 9mm hole in blank which kept elm off but still let egr gasses and soot through.do you find it warms up slower blanket off I did?and did approximate 40 miles less per tank.

It shouldn't warm up slower. Only if your blanking plate is installed in position 1 bypassing the EGR heat exchanger.

Thats 2 people having EML issues due to installing a blanking plate. :chin:

Leaving the battery disconnected over night causes the ECU to reset. It then has to relearn most things.

So try installing the blanking plate, clear any fault codes(do not start engine) then leave the battery disconnected over night.

Maybe the car will relearn new settings with the blanking plate in place?

@Shadeyman if EML stands for engine check light, than it's an issue for CF4 engines.

On CF3 engines there no such problem caused by blanking.

Probably for CF4 the solution is upping the EGR values in the software, so that the valve never opens.

I think "EML" is of German origin and is an acronym for "Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung".

"Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung" translates to "Electronic power control".

Knowing the ECU error codes would help determin if blanking the EGR is the problem. There was a loss of power before the plate was installed, this is a common EGR problem so it may not be the plate that is at fault. Post the codes so we all know and maybe someone can help?

This EGR looks like the 115bph the 150 is different and in answer to Sussexa it warms up quicker.

This is the code it through up is P0401-EGR device signal low-Fatal-Light On
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected
The reason for this fault is that the ECU has recieved very low signal from the sensor. The fault is present now. Take appropiate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault.

Give the egr a good clean and drill 3 small holes in your clanking plate like the modified gasket if your still getting low power then it must b stuck open and need new egr. I think you can get one from from vauxhall cheaper not sure for your model tho.

Does the 150 16v have a DPFE(Differential Pressure Feedback EGR system)sensor?

If it does its the reason the EML comes one when the EGR is blanked off.

The EGR of most makes of car suffer from the same problems(valve failure, blockage, power loss), some manufacturers have added a DPFE to detect EGR problems because its a common problem.

i have had the EGR blanking plates put on my 115jtd today and the EML is on. still goes well though but would like to know how to get rid of it.

When blanking the EGR the EML only comes on if you have a DPFE sensor, as your car has the same engine as my own(JTD 115) I know you don't have a DPFE sensor so your EML is on because of another fault not because you installed a blanking plate.

FES(http://www.fiatecuscan.net) will clear the EML but you'll need to solve the fault that caused it to come on in the first place or it will come on again ...

well, the car has been parked for a couple of hours, just moved it and no light.

The EML is far more likely to be related to the fact you've just Decatted your car, and has nothing to do with blanking the EGR.

ly crap. i wouldn't say more power but there is a lot less lag, turbo boosts hard from 1500rpm but does it rev quickly. Its like a remap on the remap.

when you get a remap you can hear the turbo whistle above 3krpm. Now you hear it from 2krpm but it spins up so quick now and pulls harder. When you back off the gas then touch the throttle again it picks up virtually instantly.

It cost about £250 for the pipes and fitting but it is well worth the money.

Ive just had a look and I cant see anything that could be a DPFE
