Brake light bulb replacement

Got to replace the drivers side brake light bulb on Mrs Ffoxys 1.2 Stilo. I saw a Thread about it not being reeeelly easy and that the Owners Manual mentions how its done.

Any of the Stilo massive got any tips...?

Best method... special tools... time to do (as its probably going to be raining and the garage is full up!) Best to do both at the same time or replace all the rear bulbs while I am at it with Bosch?

Cheers Stilo boyz...

Cheers bud... I just luv the FIAT way of bulb fitting lol! Trouble is most manufacturers are doing the same now!

What size socket do I need to fill with chewing gum and stick on my extension to get the nuts off and out without losing them and creating a rattle - tub?

Re: Brake light bulb replacement

The job's much easier than you think (at least on the 5 door) once you get over the shock of having to remove the whole light cluster.

10mm short spanner and socket does it - no real problems.

Re: Brake light bulb replacement

It's a really easy thing to do - just need a socket set with an extension rod and a 10mm socket. Pull back the boot liner, undo each nut, being very careful not to lose them into the abyss below, disconnect the multi-plug wiring and then withdraw the entire lamp unit from the rear of the car.

Then you just need to separate the bulb holder from the light unit and change the relevant bulb.

To use the delightful Haynes manual term, "Refitting is a reversal of the above" - but it really is that easy to do.

I'd be surprised if it takes you more than 1/2 hour to do, to be honest.
Thanks Ffoxy thanked for this post

Re: Brake light bulb replacement

Sounds terrible. Glad I have a multiwagon. No tools required and a 2 minute job to change any bulb in the back.

I can remove the bulb holder from the light unit with it in the car. It just clips in. I thought they were all like that.
