Better looking with flaps! [:0] Are you mad! ;) They hide the tyres (if you've got a nice tread pattern, you need to show it off), and although they stop the outside of the car being splattered in mud, the channel it back into the arches right where you don't wash the car properly! If you like rotten inner arches get mud flaps!

Howda feck do you see the tread pattern when the wheels are turning?
I bet you guys don't put a jacket on in the winter cos it hides your tattoos as well.

Front mudflaps protect your car from stones thrown up as well as mud, rear mudflaps protect the car behind.
That may not seem important to you but if the driver behinds visibility is impaired by your spray on a wet road it might become so.

IMHO i'd say mud flaps through out more spray in the rain! Ever followed and artic with those massive ground huggers, stones flying all ways and spray that would give a surfer a boner! [)]

One bad thing about rear mud flaps, is if you are say reversing up a steep drive way they have a tendancy of hitting the ground and bending back towards the wheels! I did this once in my mini cooper (and only once, i removed the other flap shortly there after), ripped the flap off by running over it, ripped half a wheel arch off thought i'd ripped the exhaust off the sound it made! If the car belongs to the missus, then flaps are a must(as it were). She never cleans it, so you need to reduce as much as possible your own effort on the labour front. The rear ones can be a bummer to fit if you can't be arsed to take the wheels off (and who can when it's not their car ?!) Flaps...mmmmmm
