Hi guys,

I've just ordered two new lower suspension arms to try to fix my knocking problem. See these threads for info:

I've never changed suspension arms before, is it a hard job?

Will I need to undo the main hub nut and remove the driveshaft’s from the hub, or can I just unbolt the arms and they will drop out?

Any advice anyone?

Cheers :worship:

No need to undo anything other that the three connecting points on the arm ..so firstly take off the wheel after supporting the car on an axle stand ..then undo and remove the bolt No5 from figure one in the diagram..next undo and remove the bolt 5 from the mounting just to the right of figure one ..and finally undo the pinch bolt and brake the taper on the joint that connects to the underneath of the hub [one by the arrow ] and it should come away from the car with a little pull and levering ..and here is a diagram for you to work with (y)

Nice one, cheers Phil.

Seems pretty easy, will I need a ball joint splitter tool or anything like that?

When I looked at the arms this weekend I noticed that the front mount is surrounded by the plastic side undertray thing/wheel arch liner, will I not need to remove this?

What ever is in the way then yes remove it as it will make it easier to do the job..if you have one of the fork type splitters then use it but I have used shock to brake a taper many times in the past ..hold a hammer against one side of the joint and hit the other side of the joint and shock it ..also very carefully drive a tapered wedge in the split on the housing that holds the joint and that will open it slightly and relieve the pressure there holding the joint in place.. good luck and any problems post up (y)
