I have just replaced the engine in my cabrio 1.6 8 v 90elx and I have a wire that I cannot find a socket for, There are three wires to it white/red, black and blue/white. I had the cam belt break  and a local firm stripped the engine, however they wanted too much to fix so I got it back and fitted an engine I got off flea bay. As I hadn't taken it apart it was a bit of a jigsaw putting it all back together and I am just left with this one plug that seems to go nowhere, however it is clean so must have come from somewhere. The problem I have the car at the moment, which might give a clue as to where it comes from is as follows : slight variation in the idle speed, stalls when if revs are greater than about 1000 rpm when you dip the clutch. Injection light on below about 2000rpm, goes off when greater than 2000 and engine speed steady. Runs fine at speed, seems to cut out when you get off the gas. Can anyone tell me where the plug does as I have searched hi and low and cannot find a socket for it

The wire/plug is inidicated by the arrow

many thanks

well have just had the idle valve off and cleaned and lubed it and the stalling problem appears to have gone. Injector light is still on, goes off if above 2k rpm if engine revs steady, comes on when revs dropping. still seams a bit hesitant and notice a bit of misfire sometimes

That connector usually has a black cover over it, which is why it's clean. As for your injector light check the fuel line, I had a few niggles like this quickly tracked them down to improperly secured pipes weeping fluids.
