I own a mk1 Punto 75sx (1.2 8v) and it needs a new engine. I can get hold of a 1.2 16v engine cheap but I need to know if it can be fitted without making changes to the ECU or anything else? I have heard that the ECU is the same but I need to be sure. I know some people may say to get a new car but I have spent a lot of money on the bodykit and the interior. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I shouldnt imagine the 8v and 16v ecu is the same on the mk1, if it isnt then it means you will need the front wiring loom, new ecu, lockset, and anything else to go with the key coding.

Best option, buy the 75 engine!

Thanks for the reply guys. I have just bought another 8v engine because changing to 16v would have been too much work and cash. I will be posting pics of my car when I get my new phone.

Engine swap is almost complete. Everything is back in but when I turn the ignition on there is a clicking sound under the bonnet and the injector light is flashing on the dash. Anyone know what this could be? Just got the air filter, drive shafts and the exhaust to put back.
