Wanting to Cool the engine bay and increase gas flow from the engine.
So I was thinking of heat wrapping the exhaust down to the CAT. The stuff is cheap enough and should also offer some protection from rust:)

This stuff says it's good to 1020F or 550'C, Will this be fine or will it just burst into flames? Anyone used this on their car?
How hot does the exhaust manifold get on the 1.1 8v?

I've used some on a manifold (rear cylinder bank of an Alfa Romeo v6) and it's fine.

I think exhaust gas is about 300C.

I'm not sure you'll see a huge difference though.. you can get a 13 year-old kid under the bonnet of a Punto (useful if you need to test where a noise is coming from while you're driving along.. :D) so there's plenty of cool air circulating in there.

Heat-Wrap is used to keep heat in, The same as insulating your home. When it comes to motorsport heat management is a crucial subject, especially when the vehicle is being used for fast road and track. Basically the aim is to keep as much heat out of the engine bay and in the exhaust as possible. The colder the engine and bay, the better the engine will run and perform. Wrapping your entire exhaust system will also allow a better gas flow, therefore more bhp!
