Hi all

My punto has developed an interesting issue. When I go up hill and I dont accelarate by just using the cars low end torque, so I am not lossing revs just keeping the trottle opening the same, the car suddenly losses power. I can then completely open the trottle to the carpet but it keeps decelarating. I did notice that when I am opening the trottle fully and I have the instant consumption displayed, that does not register the fully open trottle.

When I down gear in this situation the problem dissapears and the power returns.
I would love to know if anyone else has encountered this.

Another thing that I have noticed is that it feels like my turbo is not giving me all the power under full load. It feels like the turbo actuator is opening the gate and then letting some pressure escape.

Then, in the mornings when I start the car and don't let it idle for 1min and i pull off ,the intial result would be a shudder, which goes away. Its like the multiair system does not have full pressure. If you do not open the trottle much then it won't shudder. The Fiat dealer in Cape Town says the Multiair engines does this in the morning.

I looking forward to a response that would guide me in a direction.

I've had the exact same issue,

Climbing a hill at around 3000 RPM but only having part open throttle.

Its almost as though the turbo stalls and you lose boost.

I've found that downshifting solves the problem I think it might have something to do with the partial throttle and the waste gate closing.

I have the Punto Multiair Turbo aswell.

Demandred, Thanks for the reply. I found downshifting does work but it never did it before so I have booked my car at Fiat because I still have 3 months on the warranty.

I also think what happens is that the waste gate opens because the ECU may not be sure if you are going to close the throttle so it sends the signal to open the waste gate.

I will report back post visit next week Wednesday.
