So, had a scary thing happen last night. Got in car to go to work, drove out of parking space and up to the end of the street. Hit the brakes to gently come to a stop at the give way, before turning left... and NOTHING happened

Was going ~20mph, and there was a pedestrian crossing with their dog at the end, after realising my brakes were doing nothing I chucked it into 2nd gear and came off the brakes, then back on, at which point the car stopped pretty abruptly... prompting a funny look from the dog, followed by it's owner :D

Lights just outside my street at red, so turned out and continued down to the lights at a snails pace, knowing I could handbrake it to a stop if I needed to... but the brakes worked fine, and have worked fine ever since.

It's going to the dealer to be checked, but does anyone have any idea what might cause this? It has me stumped

Brake pedal was normal, not soft/hard, and did not go to the floor. It was like I was braking normally, but nothing happened... even when I applied more pressure.

I know my car has EBA (Electronic Braking Assistance), but I assume this is on top of the 'normal' hydraulics, and pressing the pedal hard should at least cause some sort of braking action to happen. Possible sensor issue ? Surely this would have chucked up a warning light though ?

No warning lights at all, ABS didn't kick it when it stopped abruptly. No grinding / squealing noises like they were jammed, car had only been left idle for ~12 hours or so, temps ~8-10 degrees.

Anyone
