Hello to everyone is a good way to start. second on the agenda is i have a problem with my 1.1/1.2 1994/1998 fiat punto(the /'s will be explained). i bought my 4th punto for a small price due to it not having a clutch. i had the clutch done and to be honest it all went downhill. the engine decided to destroy itself first was valve guides then it went all out and blew the piston rings. (bad luck or boy racers?) well i bought a salvage engine but i was a 1.2I i previously had a 1.1I in it. may sound long winded but now we get to the problem. i have a 1.1 ECU running the 1.2I engine and i get the injection light on and a rev limiter kicking in at 4500RPM i havebought a 1.2I ECU but that will not start the car. oh and the idiot who took the engine out broke the crank sensor so i have a sensor from a 1.2I MPI car. can anyone shed any light on what may actually be the problem whether it be the crank sensor the ECU or if i need to change the wiring loom(3rd option i really hope doesnt happen)

so yeah thats me in a nutshell and i hope someone can help me

all is wrong. you have complete mix of parts from different models. it will not work in any way. not by fiat. you need to have parts of same model, and also after that it is not guarantied it will work perfectly.

The thing is if i disconnect the battery then disconnect the ECU wait 60 seconds reattatch everything i get my full rev range and great response until i get theinjection light on again. i have a 1.2I ECU but that wont start the car at all. any more ideas? im getting a new crank sensor at the weekend i will post if that clears things up.
