Hey all,

today i was a bit silly and put the bolt for the back seat in the wrong angle and now it has threaded the nut that is cut into the chassis, what do you suggest i do?

Run a tap through it, failing that a nut and bolt.

as said get a tap the same size/thread pitch(pitch is usually 1.25 IIRC) to clean the threads.
most garages will have taps so could run it through for very little cash.

How much would it be for me to buy a tap and do it? is a tap a helicoil. The only problem i have at the moment is i havent passed my test so i cant drive it to the garage. How much would it be to do this at home and what do i need.

Strip the mofo out?

bout £20 max.had to buy one for a cross threaded chassis thread.
if your not driving it can wait then
no need for a die as you can use a socket if need be.

lol yea i did strip the mofo out, the car is disgustingly dirty was a decorators car and he smoked ive now got rid of all the smoke smell but now i need 2 remove all the paint splashes from the plastic so 2moz ima strip it again and stick all the **** in the bath with fairy to soak, mite try some oxiclean that does a pretty good job on fabrics.

Do you know of a helicoil set that will do this? what size do i need to do it? cheers for the replys peoples.

no helicoil is somthing very different

these are tap & dies but it depends on the size/thread pitch

ahh alrite cheers, im a bit new to this i dont supose you could tell me how to do this proceduer could you? sorry to be a pain we all gotta learn at some point, btw i am driving the car i go out in it every night with my mum for a quick drive to get used to it for when i pass (hopefully in march) cheers for the ongoing help people.
