when parking the car tonight - R reg 60s, the air cooler came on as normal but was making a horrific screeching noise
when we looked under the bonnet there is oil leaking everywhere
can anyone tell me is the lack of oil causing the screeching and if i top it up will it be ok to drive until i can get it looked at?

I personally would have gotten it towed to the nearest garage rather than topping it up to avoid anymore potential damage...

I wouldint drive it..

Its hard for anyone to say without seeing it.

When u say air cooler.....do u eamn the radiator fan. That could be screeching because of sumthing being embedded in it and catching as the fan spins. And wahtever is catching could be sumthing to do with the oil leak...as something coulda popped and shot oil everywhere...embedding itself in the fan making the screech.
Or none of that coulda happened and the 2 might be completely u related. Any chacne u can get some pics up?

Covered in lubricant.......so it screeches? Sounds a bit suspect to me.

hmm was about to say belt slipping but there isnt any belt not sure, but i'd say that 1 is probably causing the other, otherwise you're very unlucy to have 2 different problems start at the same time?

Water pump bearing? they can make a screeching noise.

I wouldn't even start it again until its in a garage.
