got a problem with my 55s
when its cold it runs perfectly fine but as soon as its got upto temperature
it starts to idle a bit poorly and acceleration seems jittery
now about 3 months ago the head gasket went but i got that sorted and is not losing coolant so thats ruled out. i have changed plugs/leads/air filter and done an oil change and new oil filter. 4-6 weeks ago and all was fine.
then 3 weeks ago one of the coil packs went but luckily had a spare knocking about so sorted that.

but i did drill the airbox about 4 weeks ago and i thought it was that so i have taped that up for the time being last week and also changed the fuel filter on the same day as i thought it could be that and ran allright for that day then started hapening again.
doing my nut in now.lol

problems get worse when it gets hot ? is it usinh more fuel than normal ? of sooo could be a faulty lamda sensor

hi m8 thanks for reply. it only happens when it the car is upto temperature re when warm but no ive not noticed it using more fuel seems to be ok on fuel still.

also sometimes when its warm and its been poor idling and acceleration if i take it for a long run at 60 mph its ok for about 10 mins then starts playing up again

ok i have replaced the lambda sensor with a brand new one and had it fitted for around 2 weeks now and i still have the same problem.
plugs/leads was changed a few months ago so none of them.
anyone got any ideas what this could be as getting peed off with it now.

I had exactly the same problem but changed the leads and problem solved. Could be the coil pack they seem to be a common problem with puntos or its the ECU.

coil pack was changed not too long after i replaced the plugs and leads as 1 went down.

also when this problem starts to occur when car is upto temp when at lights and i go to pull off there is like a popping noise coming from the engine sort of like a backfire/missfire.now this dont happen everytime just some of the time.

Def sounds like 1 or 2 of the cylinders isn't firing. Have you had a diagnostic check done? Might throw some light on the issue.
