Hello, I need to buy a new alternator for my Punto 1.2 2004. It has an AC and now I am looking for the cheapest alternator as the car is not really worth a lot here anymore. So what do I need to look at to pick the correct one? I noticed different ampers on alternators, so the one I need probably needs to have more because of the AC right? Usually 60A and 65A are not for AC but 90A are, or am I completely wrong?

Probably depends on what engine you have fitted. A bigger engine needs a bigger starter and therefore a bigger battery, a bigger battery needs a bigger alternator to charge it. The aircon is powered off the engine when it’s running so should not have any impact on the required size of alternator.

If you go to someone like euro car parts or GSF they will be able to tell you which alternator your car needs

I got my Alternator for my '06 1.2 8V (no AC) from https://www.westlancsautoelectrics.co.uk/ They were really good and it was cheaper than ECP or GSF.

The Alternator has (or should have) a sticker on it to help you figure out what you need to get.
