Alright so I've been searching forums left right and centre for a good clear hand of help but I found it to be near impossible. I have a 2000 Punto with the 1.2 8V. The airbox is broken and since I already wanted one anyways I really want to fit an induction filter to it. MOT testing isn't a problem I work at a garage (and no I don't mean it in a dodgy way) and our MOT tester has already talked to me so that we can at least to a mock test on it to see if it all goes well.

All I need however is where I can find a kit that will fit the engine and preferably fit it behind the battery so that's it's as far away from the exhaust manifold as possible. A link a name, anything of the sort would be fantastic!

Thank you in advance everyone.

Short answer you can’t really.

The mk2 is getting old now and even the most recent models are 14 years old (in the U.K.)

No one is making new parts for 14 year old cars. What you would have to do is trawl the pages of eBay and other websites and find something you can put together out of parts. There is some advice on the forum relating to this as there are certain pipes and connections to make if you remove the OEM air filter.

It would be far easier, and cheaper to replace the filter box with another one off eBay and fit a performance replacement panel filter as generally you do not have to declare this to your insurance company as it is a manufacturers specification replacement air filter

Hi,
Obviously it is open to interpretation but the MOT Manual section 8.2.1.1 says

"Emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer: missing, obviously modified or obviously defective Category Major"
If a engine breater pipe is connected to the airbox then it is part of emissions control equipment and any obvious modfication should be a fail even if the car passes the exhaust emisions test. The MOT emissions measurements do not cover all type approval requirements e.g. NOx, hence the no modification inspection.

I understand but we MOT multiple legally modified cars and it has never really been a problem. Even when examined.

But again besides the point [emoji23]
