Technical MES elm327 not talking to P/S

So registered copy of MES with an elm327 v1.4 interface is talking fine to the ecu but won't connect to the power steering.
According to the MES website I shouldn't need an adpator for the elm to see the p/s.
Any ideas ?
Windows 7 and the device manager doesn't appear to have a latency control like XP ?

I think..I'd used an adaptor..

:idea:if you select PAS then scan does it ask for an adapator lead..??

If I select power steering and scan I get the engine ecu and then COMPLETED. No mention of an adptor.
I can connect to the engine any time but when I try the p/s it says elm327-ecu connection failed, check cable and settings ?

I have both an ELM327 and a KKL cable, as well as four adapter cables for my PC with MES.. Neither of them can connect to anything but the ECU...

Sorted. There is a resistor bridging pins 14 and 6 on the OBD. Removed it and everything is good

Now who knows the inside track on a C1007 motor fault ?
