Before I go out and buy a pair of these, will my punto drive onto them without catching anything clearance wise?
Just my luck to get some then I rip the bumper off driving onto them!

bumper probably will catch especially if you have an active sporting mk2b
i stopped using these 20+ years ago as driving up them span them forward,
some lash down or a bit of old carpet that you place round and then drive up first would cure this though
4/10
i would prefer axle stands and a jack

I've got a very similar set, fine for mk2.

I think you need fairly strong nerves to use them. You need power to get up them, them you've only got a short distance to the end.
s and b carpet tip sounds excellent, I'll have to try that.

In terms of usage, I quite like the access that they give you, but I never use them more than 10-20% of the time.

And they are absolutely useless for my other car in terms of clearance.

I presume there are far better access solutions available (excluding lift, pit)

Ordinary ramps scare the crap out of me -- I once drove a Punto straight off them!

Yep, planks solve the driving on issue, but nowadays I have

these. (Still need planks to get the MR2 on them driving forwards).

For hobbyists, I'd recommend a trolley jack with decent lift (I have a 2.25 tonne Halfords one, with trade card, natch) and the highest axle stands you can sensibly use.

Height is good!
