Hi I just got a xexon hid kit for my mk2 punto. But I have condensation on the inside of my headlights I no I have to drop the bumper to get the headlight out but how can I clear up the condensation and make sure water don't get back in the lens of the headlight.

Thanks

When you drill the hole at the back use a rubber garment to seal it off with wires going through that.

As for getting the condensation out, you could heat them up with a hairdryer i did this once as mine were really bad (before I got my new headlights of course), then just do the above.

By the way, you don't have to fully drop the bumper, you can drop it slightly by removing to star head bolts near bonnet catch you can't miss them and then theres i think either 8mm bolts just under wheel arch right at the top (obviously remove arch liner to get at it) repeat on other side :) then just lower bumper down a bit and headlights will come out nicely.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but I did a search around today and a lot of people are saying hid kits are illegal, I have a 12k kit and I live in the UK. There saying about how it blinds other drivers. Could I get pulled over or anything for this?

Thanks

I wouldn't like to say yes it's fine go ahead and you get pulled days later.

But I've known people who have done it and have been fine, it solely depends on the tester (when you have your mot) and mr plod , you can get the nasty mr plod who'd pull you over cause they have nothing better else to do. But I wouldn't go 12K on these cars maybe go less?
Ziggy122 could you share some of your humble knowledge on this? :)

I suggest until the guy I just mentioned replies, hold back from fitting :)

Benny

Okay then I haven't fitted them yet I was going to do it tomorrow morning, and okay will wait and see what zingy says and go from there. Thanks Benny you have been more than helpful i really apreshiate it.

I was under the impression that HID's could only be retro-fitted to certain cars. They're required to be self-levelling and fitted with a washer system.

As for the temperature...pass...4900k for standard bulbs rings a bell?

Should get away with 4300k hid prob wont get pulled over depends on police officer. But all retro fit h.i.d systems are illegal, the only way h.i.d systems are legal is of auto levelling and washing systems. So beware when fitting these it will fail M.O.T.

For me personally I have osram night breaker xenon perfectly legal and bright as hid in my opinion :)

The advice on bulbs is spot on!

however i believe, IF the vehicle wasn't fitted with auto levelers and washers, then it wont fit
Ie if its fitted it has to work
dave might be able to give more pointers here

With the standard headlights there like a reflector closest to the wing I fitted them to that then connected a positive onto my dipped beam so my xenons and dipped come on at same time lol. Will post a picture tomorrow if u like

That's the hid kit and by what I ment in the end space of the headlight

 why is there normal then hid?

Cause i remember on standard lights, full beam w/ side light, indicator, dip beam, front fog (if car has them). By looks of it you put them on front fogs?

Correct me if im wrong....

Benny

No I don't have front fogs, wen I took the headlights out I realised there nothing in that whole it was like a reflector or something, I just took that out put the hid in and ran a possitive to the dipped beam so when ever my dipped are on they come on aswell

Never seen it done that way tbh, usually people put hids in dip beam etc but ah well.

Benny

Ino I just thought that if I keep my dipped beams and have the hids in I doubt the police will do anything, the other night about 11 I was going to my girlfriends house and I had a BMW traffic officer right behind and didn't do anything at all. So I'm assuming that its okay.
