Hi
Woundered if anyone could advise, recentley changed clutch on a 2000 punto all in and working apart from one thing, the clutch system is working backward.

Gears slide in great with now pedal released, wont if you press pedal down.

However when you place in gear and then press pedal down you get a bitting point and throws the car foreward.

As we all know this is supposed to be the other way.

Could anybody advise what I have done wrong.

I think you've fitted some part of the clutch assembly wrong.

Getting all gears with the pedal up and engine not running is normal.

The rest is bizzare.

he's not saying getting gears is a problem
its when he's getting a biting point

Instead of the pedal been on the releasing movement and getting a biting point

His clutch is getting a biting point when its depressed

As for a clutch - can only be fitted one way - Boss out on the punto, as the friction plate wont sit well on the flywheel if its incorrect - unless its a very flat generic fitting part

As for the pedal been backwards - its very odd - check the slave cylinder - ensure its not leaking lots fluid at this point

Thanks for the reply's the master and slave cycnders are both dry not leaking.

While engine running

Correct getting bitting point when you press the clutch pedal down after selecting gear with pedal up.

Working infact in reverse.

As a thought could it be a madley assembled pressure plate.

Any help would be apprrciated
