Hello I have a Fiat punto sporting and my gear selector cable just snapped. Trouble is none of the motor factors around by me sell them, they say I have to go to fiat direct .

The is currently someone selling the two cables on ebay but they are for a 1.2 8v 5speed punto. Does anyone know if these cables will fit mine?

Had to replace one on my HGT a couple of months back and dealer price was £96 (couldn't have gotten one from a scrap yard as the HGT MUltijet uses a specific part and the car is so rare they just don't exsist in scrap yards)

I would imagine 5 and 6 speed needs a different cables to allow for the extra gate and linkages for reverse

Dealer price is likely to be similar no matter what car or configuration you have but a basic 1.2 engined cars are pretty common so they are probably the cheapest

Why does no-one bother to use the Forum's version of ePer? It makes these questions much easier to answer. :)

All mk2/2b's use the same two cables- 1.2 8v/16v/1.4 16v, 5 speed or 6 speed, with the exception of JTD's, HGT's and Autos (obviously)-

If you're not sure which cable you need, Fiat always stamp the part numbers on the parts themselves- white writing on the black sleeve of the cable approx 3-4 inches from the gearbox end.

I am looking for the gear selector cables for the Punto 2004 Active. And the ePER link you posted doesn't seem to list 2004. Do you have another link?
Thanks in advance.
