Hi everyone. I've got an 01' Punto mk2 JTD. No seriuos problems with it so far, except for the clutch kit i've changed recently. So far so good.
Now i have this issue: i've bought some DRL's(daytime running lights-led's). Ive mounted them nicely, but can't get them to work properly. The thing is, that they have 3 wires for power. Ive connected one positive to lights, negative to battery ground, and the the second positive to a cable, which i believe belongs to ABS. Now the led's work when i turn the ignition on, but if i even touch the brake pedal, they turn off for about a second. So i need to find another constant power source under the bonnet, that would be ON when the ignition is on and vice versa. Maybe anyone here knows if there is such a wire anywhere under the hood?
Sorry for writing mistakes, English isn't my first language.
Thank you. :)

I also thought of putting a simple switch in the cockpit, but could not find a hole for wires from engine bay to the inside of the car.

easiest way to get a wire into the cabin is to remove a wheel liner and go through the wing indicator grommet loom

ok, will try that, but would like to find out about the possible ignition on-power on wires first.

Would the extra wire not run to the headlights, so when the headlight comes on the drl goes off?
yea, when the headlights go on, the drl's go off. everything is ok with that. ;)
but the other positive needs ignition dependent wire

I am going to assume that thes lights are some how transistor switched (I have no idea why you would do this for led lights)

Anyhooo a few of the engine bay relays are ignition switched this might be a good place to start looking, if you do a search on the forum for wiring diagram or workshop manual this should help you. Just make sure you get the switching side of the relay and not the side which is being switched, and fit a suitable fuse to the system

you could use the gromit were the bonnet cable comes out.
Its located just underneath the master cylinder from the engine side i think and comes out behind the steering wheel inside.

Thank you. (y)
