Hey All,

Currently having a problem I've been trying to sort out for the last week or so, I recently got another punto, used to have a Y reg now a 06 mk2b, anyway i swapped over the sony stereo i bought for the old Punto and have had nothing but problems so far. First off the iso didnt match up I which fixed thanks to a helpful guide on here, i thought it was all ready as i got it all up and running and sounding nice, then when i came to actually start the engine the stereo turned off, even if you just turn the key enough to start the electrics the stereo is completely knocked out but once you turn the electrics off after about 30 seconds the stereo comes back onI I thought the fuse might be too small, there was a 10 in and I tried a 20, I don't know if this was very clever but I started getting pretty impatient, I also checked on my older punto and the fuse in there was a 10. I also tried a brand new kenwood stereo in it with a new ISO which also had the same problem so I know its not the stereo.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, and I apologise if I've called anything by the wrong name, im going off bits i remember from what ive read on here.

Thanks all:)

you need to reappraise your wiring before you damage something especially as they have can bus wiring made of dog hairs

Hi mate,

As S and B says, sounds to me like you have your wiring slightly wrong somewhere. The wiring on the 2b is SLIGHTLY different to the mk2. HAve you joined the yellow and red wires together? or another method?

Dont change fuses for ones of higher rating, as potentially it could cause some serious damage or cause a fire.

Hey

I know haha, i get very frustrated sometimes and just do things that i know i shouldn't be, i should really know by now my friend did some damage to his corsa with something similar, I've calmed down now so now more stupid experiments.

I swapped the wiring around on the iso i got with the stereo to match the one in the car because they were in different places on the mk2b, the only thing it would do was eject cds when they were in same place as mk2 which i read meant it was'nt getting power correctly , does this sound like somthing simple or a big job that will need to be done at a garage?

Thanks,
Ell

Sorted this now, both the 12v and Constant needed to be running together in the same pin on the cars ISO, it runs when keys aren't in which a lot of people have complained about but there a setting on the head unit that switch's its power off after a set time to get around that.

thanks,
Ell

ive done this but im not happy with modern car radios as im always frightened they will burst into flames when stood
they run awfully hot
this is why i didnt offer the fix in case litigation followed :D
