The temp gauge on my dash aint working! The car is a 1996 Punto 1.1 SX.

Anybody got any ideas on this? Could it be a thermostat gone or something?

By not working I take it you mean that it's not moving at all. It's probably the coolant temp sensor that needs changed. Not too sure where it is on yours, someone on here wil probably know though. When you find it, unplug the wiring and check for any corrosion on the pins, it may just need cleaned.

its on the back of the engine, in the head near, timing end

when u find it, unplug the wire and touch it to the head/block/gnd and get someone to look at the gauge - if it shoots to the top, its meant to show the gauge is fine and the sender is at fault

Sorry to bring this old thread up, but I have this problem now on mine, never worked since I got it. Does this fail an MOT for it, as the guy give me 12 months MOT when I bought it and it didn't work then ?
