Had problems with my car end of last year, which was diagnosed by a mechanic as a faulty ECU along with various other things. Managed to get a second hand ECU, ignition barrel and body computer from a girl my dad knew who had written off her punto. Mechanic fitted it and it worked fine. Problem is my dad only got one key off her, and she had scraped the vehicle when he went back to she if she had a spare. I lost the one and only key a month ago, it was last seen with my 18 month daughter on the beach - long story!!!!

Anyway, I have ordered a second hand ECU, accompaning body computer, key barrel, and lock set. How big a job is it to fit it? And is it complicated? I'm hoping not as I am seriously broke and trying to avoid the cost of labour too. I would really appreciate any advice.

Body computer is MK2 I guess.
Biggest problem is getting the ignition barrel out, a well placed 1/4" drill should do it.
BTW you will have serious problems getting a replacement key once the ecu is changed, so look after it.
