there is a gap yes mate

I found that to reduce the problem quiet abit is to take the backing off - dry the light out with hairdrier - let it cool - and do 1 of the 2
1 replace the headlight seals
2 - Pull them out and put grease on them to blacken them again, and DONT push them all the way back into there groove - let the Headlight fitting push them back in to make a possible better seal

It worked for me

About 85% less mist in them
