Trying to find out what is causing the lack of power in my mk2 sporting. Have decided that the hotter the engine, the worse it is.

I have tested the resistance of the coil packs (at room temp), and get these values:

Primary - 0.9 ohms & 0.9ohms
Secondary - 14.08 kohms & 14.14 kohms

But my values are higher than the Haynes values of:

Primary - 0.52 - 0.62 ohms
Secondary - 6.83 - 7.83 kohms

Does my coil pack need changing? Is there anywhere else I could find the correct resistance values for this coil pack? Haynes only specifies these values for 8v and 16v coils, which are different

I would be very grateful if somebody else could compare the values of their mk2 16v coil pack with mine (it is a single unit for both coil packs), unlike the 8v.

Cheers.

Ok, I have looked at a Brava Hyanes manual, and it gives the coil resistances of the 1.2 16v engine (it seems the punto haynes doesnt!).

the Haynes values are:

Primary: 0.45 - 0.55 ohms
Secondary: 12000 - 14600 ohms.

Therefore I can conclude that the secondary resistance of my coils is fine. However my Primary resistance is almost double. Would this actually cause a problem? Though I dont think the car misfires - i am unable to tell.

I have done the low speed high gear test, but acts no different to any other car. The best way I can describe my problem is that under acceleration power seems to come and go, but very very quickly.

Carrying on from a previous post I had made regarding this lack of power during acceleration issue, I changed the lambda sensor around a month or two ago and the car was back to normal - for about a week, then it went back to how it was before the lambda change. I cant help but think something has killed the lambda again. But shows no other lambda failure signs such as low mpg or high emissions. I have had no lights on dash, and nothing shows up on diagnostic.

All obvious things like spark plugs, leads, air filter have been changed. have checked for blocked breather, checked condition of map sensor and wiring/connectors.

I have recently developed a squeak sound when I switch of the engine, so I thought there must be an air leak of some sort somewhere, but cannot find a thing.
